About the Book |
It is surprising to note that the ‘self-improvement’ industry, constituting over 3 billion US $ a year, advises on all issues of life such as marriage, communication and network building but offers nothing on how to perform and grow in your work-life, your job. The book presents a comprehensive and exhaustive account of the fundamental factors influencing work-life success and advancement.
In Part I, the author challenges some of the popular beliefs which he calls ‘myths of career building’ and sorts the haze of these five global myths that a professional unwittingly adopts to (mis)guide his work-life. This part will help you appreciate that the current tools of career management developed in nineteenth century are not suitable in meeting your career challenges of the twentieth century.
Part II explores a thoroughly researched career building model called Enlight. Enlight, the world’s first systematised articulation of how one can build one’s career to achieve one’s dreams/potential in a myth-free way, will help you understand how today’s executives build their work-life, surmount the challenges of development, use sense-making to take decisions, and negotiate the various transitions.
This book is a valuable contribution to the field of organizational behaviour and career psychology.
In this book you will understand
• Why acceptable output is rewarded more than excellent output in an organization.
• Why aspiration management is critical for growth.
• How inferiority complex (or any negative attribute) can be made into a strength.
• How relationships are an integral part of career management.
• Why beliefs influence your decisions more than information.
• How experience misguides your actions.
