Rupnarayan Bose began his banking career with the State Bank of India group. A major part of his professional life was spent in international banking and international trade, treasury, and as head of several medium and large branches in India and abroad. In 1992, he joined 20th Century Finance Corporation Ltd. as Vice President, and helped to set up Centurion Bank Ltd. Later in 1995, he joined a Mumbai-based merchant banking company as President, returning to mainstream banking in 1998 as Managing Director of Fina Bank Ltd., Nairobi, Kenya. He later served as General Manager Treasury, International Banking, Operations) of Diamond Trust Bank Ltd., Nairobi. His last assignment in East Africa was as Managing Director of Trans Africa Bank Ltd., Kampala, Uganda. R. N. Bose is an acknowledged expert in international banking, documentary credits, the UCP and other ICC Rules. He has lectured extensively in India and in East Africa on these subjects, and has a large number of articles in leading publications to his credit. His books Introduction to Documentary Credits and Fundamentals of International Banking are the most complete and authoritative treatises on these subjects in the market today. Currently, he is engaged in writing, training, conducting seminars, workshops and offering consultancy services in the areas of his expertise.
